Format

This tournament is a 4k tournament.

Qualifiers will be held to generate seeding. Here is a gist of how they work:

  • Players will sign up for a lobby within the qualifier week, and will have two attempts to set the best scores possible on the qualifier maps.
  • The better you do in your qualifier maps, the higher "seed" you will be. The lower seed you are, the higher seed you will have to face in your first non-qualifier match.
  • After qualifiers, the tournament will be held in a double-elimination format; lose in the winner's bracket, and you go to the lower bracket; lose in the lower bracket, and you're out of the tournament.
  • The top 16 players will start in the winner's bracket, and the bottom 16 players will start in the losers bracket. Within the brackets, players are matched using opposition seeding; seed 1 goes against seed 16, 2 against 15, etc.
  • Certain weeks will have conditional matches for the loser's bracket. This means that you need to schedule matches with potential opponents beforehand. We will clarify this more in the ESVT discord.

Categories

  • Reading - Focused on the reading element of SV, designed to be more or less sightreadable
  • Memory - Has elements of memorization (stacked notes, chunking, etc.)
  • Hybrid - Has elements of both aforementioned categories, usually more focused on reading than memory
  • Reverse - Main focus of the map is reverse scroll (upscroll if you play with downscroll and vice versa)
  • Splitscroll - Focused on reading multiple scroll directions at once
  • Wildcard - Qualifier exclusive, contains elements of all types
Matches will only be held on weekends, unless stated otherwise. Due to the nature of the double-elimination format, if you're in the loser's bracket, be prepared to play a match on both Saturday and Sunday.

Rescheduling

If a player wants to reschedule a match, both participating players of that match must mutually agree to a reschedule. Reschedules need to happen at least 3 hours before the match's initial start time.

Bans

As tradition in ESVT, there are no bans. Good Luck!

Common Sense

For obvious reasons PLEASE do not break any of Quaver's rules, such as:

  • Do not use a second monitor to show the map with NSV - this is cheating, as defined by Quaver.
  • Do not play on someone else's account.
  • Do not use any third party modifications or client. Violation of any of these rules will result in a Quaver ban.

Match Process

For a match between two players (NOT qualifiers), the following will be true:

  • Refs will send out a ping 15 minutes before the match, and will invite the players 5 minutes before the match. Try to be online and on Quaver at least 10 minutes before the match.
  • In the event a player does not show up on time, the ref and player will wait for the missing player. If the missing player is 10 minutes late or more, one map of the present player's choice will be automatically given as a point to the present player. If the missing player is 20 minutes late or more, the present player will automatically be given the win.
  • Players have the option to select warmup maps. The total length of the warmup phase should not last more than 8 minutes (maximum 4 minutes per player, or 8 minutes for one player).
  • Afterwards, players will both roll a random number using !mp roll. The player with the higher roll picks first, and picks will then alternate between player.
  • If a player disconnects within the first 30 seconds of a map, the map will be replayed (up to once). If a player disconnects afterwards, the point will be given to the other player.
  • While different rounds have different mappool sizes, the general format will be the same; in a mappool of 7 maps, first to 4 map wins is deemed the winner of the match. In a mappool of 9 maps, first to 5 map wins is deemed the winner of the match, etc.

We reserve the right to refuse entry, qualification or play within the tournament if we deem player conduct to be inappropriate.
